People will take anything free and use it to death, kind of like the biosphere.
Alternative/non-emissions energy systems could power the world, ships, farms, factories, houses and transport.
The mass farming and transport in food distribution has to go to lower powered equipment and localized for all nutritional needs, especially anti-oxidants. No more big diesels and jets, except maybe for emergency and training can be done with solar powered simulators. Aviation could still have solar gliders and dirigibles. Travel and vacationing will have to be low emissions only.
Foundries would have to go to solar thermal. Other depleting resources like soil can be rebuilt relatively fast, and water can be recycled unless it is full of too many toxins. Dealing with all the toxins and pollution will take thousands of years and millions of people to recycle, re-use, or destroy cleanly.
People must be convinced to not have any kids for 20 years then one only until a balance is achieved.
Tech to resequester CO2 and clean up other gases, should be worked on.
Certainly a new way of looking at nature and our part in it is needed, with cultural and religious changes to lessen dramatically those negative habits like greed and over-breeding, and gov't help to make those in the future smarter, or at least able to see ahead and understand and live sustainably.
Then we run up against big money evil, and human inertia or resistance to change. We also run up against a very tight schedule to accomplish all of this. Is it 6 years or 9? Could we have longer, please? Is it hopeful, or delusion, to think we can overcome such formidable logistics? Those of faith pray for God's help, and that does help on an individual basis.
Those of us who have been around and are older, see hope, and the reality that the majority just can not get it.
We can help people like that until we are broke, but feel good we changed some of them.
We can continue fighting big oil and coal, fracking, and other polluters/depleters, greenwashers, and corrupt politicians, because it is the right thing to do. So is continuing to educate others on going green, the realities of AGW, depletion, and pollution.
That is a delicate thing, because many can not understand or do not want to look at some aspects, like the result of doing not enough in time.

We may have 2 years, 6 years, 9 years or more, depending on which model you use. 90% of 2000 level reduction by 2024, or the 80% reduction by 2040 by the IPCC which was so conservative and not reality.
I reduced my footprint to 1/20th average American, and it wasn't that hard----for me. For the average lazy dumb sub-human fatso? Good luck!

"There’s something lurking deep under the frozen Arctic Ocean, and if it gets released, it could spell disaster for our planet.
That something is methane.
We have a chance right now to keep the giant methane monster that’s lurking under the Arctic Ocean right where it is, and save our planet in the process.
Methane is one of the strongest of the natural greenhouse gases, about 80 times more potent than CO2, and while it may not get as much attention as its cousin CO2, it certainly can do as much, if not more, damage to our planet.
That’s because methane is a far more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, and there are trillions of tons of it embedded in a kind of ice slurry called methane hydrate or methane clathrate crystals in the Arctic and in the seas around the continental shelves all around the world.
If enough of this methane is released quickly enough, it won’t just produce the same old global warming.
It could produce an extinction of species on a wide scale, an extinction that could even include the human race.
If there is a “ticking time bomb” on our planet that could lead to a global warming so rapid and sudden that we would have no way of dealing with it, it’s methane.
Right now, estimates suggest that there’s more than 1,000 gigatons—that’s a thousand billion tons—of carbon in methane form trapped just under the Arctic ice. And if stays trapped under the ice, we might have a chance.
But, thanks to the global warming that’s already occurring, Arctic sea ice is melting at unprecedented rates.
In fact, as Gaius Publius points out over at America Blog, just about every reputable projection on the loss of Arctic sea ice has been wrong in a very, very bad way.
The lack of sea ice cover in the Arctic that we’re seeing today wasn’t supposed to happen for 20+ more years according to 13 of the most accurate models.
As all that sea ice melts, the Arctic ice which once reflected sunlight and prevented global warming, becomes a very blue ocean that absorbs heat and causes even more melting.
And this all means that more and more methane is being released into the atmosphere much faster than expected, speeding up the process of global warming and climate change.
It’s all one big and vicious cycle, called a “positive feedback loop,” something that can spiral out of balance and control very quickly.

I have echoed the warning from 2009, since 2009. FIVE years where it was known that this extreme danger from human emissions.
Now, we only have 9 years to reduce HGHGs 90% (most likely impossible).
The only way out of an extinction disaster is another catastrophe---a super volcanic eruption. IMEEO
