I have a question concerning board rules -

I thought we could quote only two lines from a linked article. I am evidently incorrect as I've noticed Donnie often quotes several, as ion this thread. Can someone please set me straight on this rule?

I think it must be right in front of me but I have been unable to find this rule now.

(And, sorry for the double posting. I realize this question belongs here but had already asked it in that thread.)

"The Saboteur Issue

Although a large number of hunt saboteurs have been arrested and charged with criminal offences since intensive sabotage activity began in 1993/4, not one Four Burrow Hunt member has been arrested. >>>>>often in the face of saboteur violence or threats of violence. By way of example, we would illustrate the occasion on the 1 2th March 1994 when four of the Four Burrow members including the Joint Master and Huntsman were hospitalised after a particularly savage attack by a large number of saboteurs who had been bussed into West Cornwall from all over the country. They were dressed in combat clothes with balaclavas and were armed with fencing stakes."

CAMBRIDGE STUDENTS AMONG THOSE TO BE THE FIRST CHARGED UNDER CRIMINAL "JUSTICE" ACT!

On Saturday 5th November, five protesters were arrested at the Woodland Pytchley hunt at Stoke Albany, Northamptonshire. They were each held for around 8 hours at Corby police station, charged with aggravated trespass (Section 68 of the new Criminal Justice Act (1994)) and released on police bail. Three of those arrested were members of CABS and two of Northamptonshire Hunt Saboteurs. They are thought to be the first arrests suffered by Cambridge Anti-Bloodsports Society for 5 years and among the first in the country under the new law.

Because this is "off topic" and because I believe that leaving it in the thread where it started
(viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10751&start=30)
would be against the rules, I'm adding it here.

As for "walking away", that's exactly what I'm doing now and for the very same reason I told you before. I have said what I mean to say and there is no reason to continue saying the same thing over and over. Especially since there is no possibility of a meeting of the minds.

Call it what you want but can you really see any point to this endless back and forth?
I have repeatedly asked that you and Donnie stop calling me (and others if they care) a liar and/or stupid.

If I recall, that IS against board rules but even if it is not, I don't see any reason to try to talk reasonably with someone who resorts to name calling.

We will never agree on certain things so why muddy up the board with it?

Posts which violated the rule on copyright infringement were removed earlier today. Two sentences of quoted content is indeed the limit.

As for the personal attacks, I don't see any. In addition to a link, can you provide a specific quote?

I was just looking at the examples of their rather insidious name calling and came across the few posts you have made to me - all are very sarcastic, snotty and contain name calling too.

So, no, I don't think I'll give you even more ammo right now.

If they keep it up, I'll keep a list but I'd rather give it directly to josh rather than just "incite" more sarcastic name calling from you.

Thanks very much for asking though.

And, I did not mean to have Donnie's posts removed or changed. I was sincerely seeking information only.

I want to add that I really had not thought about getting a moderator involved. What I said was said directly to Donnie and Steve. THAT really should be more than enough because, being adults, I'm certain that once they realize how their remarks are being construed, they would stop saying that anyone is "blathering", "misrepresenting", "disingenuous", "inciteful", "shallow", "cowardly" etc.

I would also like to repeat what I said to them both - if there can be no meeting of the minds, if agreement is not possible, why not just agree to disagree and walk away from it.

Must there always be a long drawn out fight?

I don't think so.

I just wonder why for someit seems they are banned for the littlest infraction but some can breach rule after rule. You only have to read the feedback section to see this.

It would appear that many have asked josh the very same question.

And his answer is always the same. No action(including banning) is done without his approval.

Thank you but that was not the question.

I'm highly confused (a normal state, it seems)... what is the question and/or feedback being given here? It would seem that the quoted content issue has been fixed. Are there actual personal attacks taking place that I haven't seen? If so, please provide links here to the content or use the "!" button to flag them as a complaint.

As I said, my original message was addressed directly to Steve and Donnie. They both know exactly what I meant by what I quoted above and in the thread. In the future I will use the reporting button but, for now, I don't see any point in fanning the flames by listing those again or by hunting through old posts for more. I might have used it before but did not know that's what it was.

Thanks.
