We have seen how crop production has increased and how this has increaseed our ways of feeding the world ... so to speak. Yet, the scientists who have discovered these ways end up working for corporations whose bottom line is profit. As a selling point, they are altruistic, as if there bottom line is the welfare of people. But ultimately, they are more concerened with their shareholders than they are people who need food. And this is why they are suspect IMO.

The websites you have published here, by the way, are info packed and even wisdom packed ... and the content is possibly fodder for discussion, so thanks for it. But I do not trust Monsanto as they are a business ultimately and as a business, want to make profit. In order to do so, they must present themselves in a certain way. So the international team of scientists who have decoded the full DNA sequence of the potato for the first time .... might be goofy scientists ..... who may sell their PhD's to corporations like Monsanto whose bottom line is profit under the guise of altruism. What say ye?

Too many suspect anything relating to a larger corporation just because it comes from a corporation. Others suspect anything relating to a governmental agency just because it comes from a governmental agency. Others suspect anything new just because it is new and different in some way. None of these approaches are really valid because they are generalities.



They could "sell" their PhDs to a government, or an educational institution, or a corporation ... just like the rest of the world sell ourselves to earn money and live. The question could revolve more toward whether they sell their ethics.
