What's even worse are scientists (or untrained, outspoken proponents of it) attempting to counter real science. There's nothing I love more than putting these folks in their place before
I learn that they have a degree in philosophy and a career driving a lift truck.
I was involved in a discussion in what was supposed to be a professional forum until it devolved into just name calling.
The "professionals" that were taking turns at attacking science turned out to be a community college instructor, a very undereducated field technician, a guy looking for a job in the field, and some manager. They used various attacks themselves and those excluded the attacks by their supporters, but that small issue was ignored as was the evidence of the use of logical fallacies, incorrect math, and anecdotal information as general fact. They may still be going on making replies to me as far as I know.
