I nominate Wayne to start a scheduled chat session to get people more involved with the chat room. \:D/ Who better than the resident fun party guy to get things rolling? :lol:

I've never been to a chat room. Is it like instant messaging? What's the attire?

Just click on the "EnviroChat" link at the top of EVERY page on this site and find out! It is not a big deal... it's just like instant messaging, except you can do it with lots of people at once. I usually leave myself logged into the chat during the day while at work (and do other stuff) but that allows me to interact with people when I'm available.

It can be incredibly casual with no particular dress code. Donnie must wear pants when participating, though! :shock:

Ok, let me try to explain something about how this chat thing COULD work. One way to view the chat is to look at it as an always on way of chatting with folks who are all around the world. In this scenario, users would just leave themselves logged in (assuming they are online) and participate when they can. You would make use of the "away" status menu to let people know whether you are really there or not. As new people log in, they get greeted, people shoot the breeze, etc. It's like having a virtual pub on your computer (without the booze, unfortunately).

Another way to view it is as an auditorium or meeting space. People can have hosted "events" where they pre-schedule a time, topic, etc. and try to get people to participate in some sort of discussion about an issue.

I'm happy with the EnviroChat being used for either of those scenarios. Obviously people use chats for other things, and some of those I'm not as thrilled about since there are so many other places to go online for that. I will say that at the "old" EnviroChat (back in the 90's) we actually had a surprisingly large number of marriages happen as a result of people meeting there. I'll out Granola on that one... :wink:

Bottom line... if you're here anyway, click the EnviroChat link at the top of every page and pull up a keyboard and have fun!

Dang.. if it's responsible for marriage I should stay away. I'm allergic to marriage. :lol:

An easier way to put it..
Chat = fun.

Ok, if I must. All of the young women can chat with me between the hours of 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm, the more mature young women can chat with me between the hours of 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm since the doctors are usually through with their rounds and visiting hours are over by 8:00 pm ... since my wife would hospitalize me for the effort ... :lol:

Actually, I have not tried the new chat yet. I may try it tonight if I can ever get out of the office tonight .. :(

But if I don't wear pants I wouldn't need to pull the charade you did with your hands outstretched in a pretense like you did in the "what you look like thread Josh." :wink:

Can I hear an Amen? Can I hear it in the EnviroChat?
